We love these sweet pieces by Singapore-based artist Izziyana Suhaimi. Combining traditional illustration, watercolor and then adding embroidery, Suhaimi creates a subtle narrative between the traditional craftsmanship and contemporary subjects in these beautifully done pieces.

Wanted to get modern women artists and some WOC up in this one. If you reblog it would be cool if you kept the part in the brackets so these artists, two of whom are still working, will get credit—this conversational part below is nbd.
I like this one better…
Fabulous women selfies are something I can get behind.

Hit me right in the feels. Anytime I see anything with this majestic beast of a cat, I about die. Though, I really wish she had a different real life name.

Beauty Queen Series

Oil on canvas
2012This is my series of self portraits where I made myself into a beautiful princess. It’s the array of ridiculous emotions associated with it.

2012Once upon a time there was a court painter to a beautiful princess. She would paint marvelous and weird images for the princess who would squeal in delight upon seeing her image so wonderfully rendered. The court painter was always fascinated by the princess’s obsession with a magical book she would keep called a “Tumblr.” The court painter had tried before to support one, with images of her cats sleeping, but alas, it never took to the court painter’s life. She would just sit in a dark corner of the castle scrolling through other people’s Tumblrs.
One day, the beautiful princess, upon seeing the most recent creation of the court painter, said “You should make one of your art!”
The court painter scoffed at the beautiful princess’s suggestion. Why would anyone want to see that? Then, she decided to take the beautiful princess’s advice, and thus, Neptuna: The Destroyer of Worlds was created.
